When I started to make this painting, I heard a voice say, "You cannot paint her small! Chaka possesses a strong, big, beautiful, and loud voice. Paint her that way." So, I did. I wanted to make a statement about her beauty, her persona, her voice. I wanted to show her as she is to me and the world – larger than life.
